Lavender Lime began as a brick and mortar quilt shop located in Chattanooga, TN in 2005. It began in 1500 square feet and quickly (less than a year) grew to 3500 square feet. Lavender Lime sold fabrics, machines and all the supplies needed for the local customer's quilting wants. They offered classes as well as quilting clubs. The shop quickly became a tourist stop, getting quilters visiting from all over the country. In 2009, Better Homes and Gardens choose Lavender Lime as one of the Top 10 Quilt Shops in America.
In 2006, Lavender Lime decided to begin their own line of quilting patterns and "Lavender Lime Designs" began. The first book, Sweet and Simple, was originally printed with only 100 copies. They were afraid they would have trouble selling all 100 copies. When the inventory sold in 2 days, during a shop hop, they decided they might be on to something.
The store front in Chattanooga closed, when owner Kathy Skomp, took a job working with Moda Fabrics. She continues to work with Moda Fabrics and the design company and online store continues.
